During a press conference after the 0-0 draw against Central Córdoba de Santiago del Estero in the Professional League Cup, interim coach of San Lorenzo, Leandro Romagnoli, expressed his interest in becoming the official coach of the first team.
Although he has not spoken with players Néstor Ortigoza and Marcelo Moretti, Romagnoli confessed that he has the illusion of coaching San Lorenzo and that he would be lying if he said otherwise. "I have always had the dream of coaching this team. I feel comfortable in the reserve team and I am accumulating experience. When Rubén was in charge, I thought that at some point I would get the chance to coach San Lorenzo, but I am not desperate," he said.
However, the reserve team coach made it clear that the final decision does not depend on him. "I know the club is looking for a coach. I don't know if this will be my last game or if I will have to coach the next one. I am here to help and Néstor and Marcelo will be the ones to decide how I continue. They will make that decision," he added.
After a meeting with the San Lorenzo board, it was decided to put an end to Rubén Darío Insua's cycle as coach of the team, despite having renewed his contract until 2025 in January. The poor results in the League Cup and the Libertadores Cup, where only two matches have been played with one draw and one loss, led the Board of Directors led by Marcelo Moretti to make this decision.
Although Insua wanted to continue at the club and had the support of Néstor Ortigoza, Moretti informed him of the decision a few days ago in a meeting.
